In celebration of Father's Day...

... we share this Father's Day factoid:

While Mother's Day is the biggest day of the year for phone calls,

Americans make more collect calls on Father's Day than on any other.

Lucky for our Dads (we hope!), we'll be keeping the phone on the hook so we can swing by for a visit on the big day.

Horray for Dads!

My American Idol

I know there are plenty of people out there that watch American Idol (even if you won't admit it). Well, we've found an amazing, previously undiscovered, talent and we want your opinion. She was practicing for karaoke when I stumbled upon this gem and luckily had a camera that takes videos. Give us your best Simon, Paula or Randy reaction to our star...

(WE LOVE YOU STACY!!!)

Even More Camping...

I guess there's a limit to how large a post can be, so here is more camping fun...

We had a bunch of fun, but one of the most amazing things that happened (in Brian's opinion) was finding the long lost inspiration of the Beatles' song "Yellow Submarine":

You may ask where we found such an important piece of musical history. Well, like Indian Jones, we searched far and wide, battled countless enemies, and fought our way through some treacherous terrain until we found the legendary Bag of Peanut M&M's. Mom was the lucky recipient of this priceless artifact as she was the winner of the game of Balderdash we were playing at the time of the discovery. We can't wait until next year to see what piece of history we'll uncover next.

More Camping Fun

It has been a little while since we posted anything new, so here are some more pictures we took a few weeks back camping.
The kids each got to cook one of the meals:

Stacy got to see her favorite child song singer, Rick Charette (he's kind of a local celebrity). We remember him coming to our elementary school when we were kids and performing for us then...and he's still singing and bringing out the kid inside us all...

We celebrated Mom's birthday:

We tried to take a nice family picture, but the front row didn't know the back row was goofing around:

Eventually we got it right:

Snapshots from Camp

The view, sitting around the fire at our cabin one morning.
Mmmmmm... one of the best things about camping - the food!! Everything tastes better when you're camping.

Memorial Day Weekend Camping Adventures

We had a blast camping this long weekend with the Alexander crew. Here's a few shots from the warmest day when a few crazy people from our bunch decided they'd go for a swim. The rest of us enjoyed the water from the edge.

Mr. Peepers comes to visit

We met Mr. Peepers last week when he found our bird feeder. To our surprise he didn't have much of an interest (yet) in jumping up to the bird feeder and choosing his own meal. He was quite content to rummage through the leftovers on the ground. While we watched him eat and bury his findings, we decided his name must be Mr. Peepers because of his funny exagerated antics when he eats (like the SNL skit). He looked up at us in the window a few times, but didn't mind us watching him either. And then we came up onto our steps and flattened out on his belly, presumably to cool off (our steps were in the shade). Although the second picture makes him look a little nervous, he was very relaxed and hung around for quite a while. Maybe we are too easiliy amused, but we enjoyed our first meeting with Mr. Peepers.
...now how do we make sure he doesn't get any more ideas about the birdfeeder? :)
