In honor of today's snowstorm...

This was yesterday's (rerun) comic, which I thought was pretty appropriate :):

...lucky for Calvin, the snow did arrive and school was canceled after all.

Before Heading Back

Before Shelly went back to school we made sure to make time for a few photos.

This is a (very short) video Shelly showed us (and we all loved): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8Kyi0WNg40

And this is what happens when you give a video camera to kids of the youtube era (gotta watch the clip above first or it won't make sense....):

(Ok, so it doesn't really make sense now either.) Ooooh, how pathetic! I couldn't even imitate the music!!! Ha! I think we'd better stick with the prairie dog version :). hee hee

Birds of a Feather...

...flock together (to our birdfeeder when it's this cold!!)

There were so many beautiful birds frequenting our bird feeder this morning while it snowed that I had to take a few photos. I went in the other room to get my camera and decided I'd put my better zoom lens on to try to get nicer shots of these small birds. But when I went back to the large window in the living room all the birds were gone except for this one, sitting in our magnolia tree RIGHT in front of my face!

I was luckily enough to get this one shot before he flew off! It was a little while before the smaller birds came back, but after a week of temps in the single digits and below zero, they were more than ready to eat!

Clean Energy?

I found this site called Reality that is working with environmental groups to offer a different perspective from the "green-washing" marketing scemes we're bombarded with on tv, print, etc and I liked the comparision they made from a recent "Clean Coal" marketing piece to another marketing piece we all know was created to lie to us.... hey, it's worked before, right?

Just put sunglasses on it and it's the next cool thing, no health problems in sight!

Bringing in 2009!

We started the New Year off right with our friends Mike and Laura and their adorable family. We had a blast while we were there (although the traveling to and from was a little nightmarish). But as always, vacations are far too short.
Here's to a wonderful new year - Can you believe it's 2009 already?!
