a few snowflakes...

Our first big storm of the season. I always find it exciting when a lot of snow is coming our way! Since the local forecasters recommended staying off the road if possible, we took their advice and called out of work. Everyone loves a Snow Day!!! The snow fell from about dawn to dusk...

I went outside around mid afternoon to check out how much snow we had so far.
Then it was back to my activity of the day... baking goodies.
the snow continued....

After dinner we went out to clean up the driveway. Our yardstick in the snow read about 15.5 - 16" - a lot more than the 9-11 inches they were predicting for us!
Hooray for snow days!

Home for the holidays

Just a few family photos from Christmas... since holidays are all about the people you care about most.
Mel's family
Mel's mom's Aunt Dot joined us this year for Christmas, which was a real treat. Even in her nineties she's still a spitfire! And when you're that old you don't really need too much, so she got the best gifts of all of us - loads of chocolate!!
Mel and her cousins
Brian's memorable gift from Stacy and Eric.... the SNL "D" in a Box skit lives on! Nice touch with the hole in the box, Stacy.

Brian's family. Sweet reindeer sweater Scott!

Christmas Morning

Here's how we started our Christmas morning
Santa came!!!
And he brought treats!

My big gift from Brian
was a wall shelf for the kitchen (which will have hooks] that Brian made himself!

O Christmas Tree

Went to get our fresh Christmas tree at our local tree farm earlier this year. We figured if we're going to the bother of cutting a fresh tree ourselves, we might as well have it around for awhile! So the weekend after Thanksgiving we were off to find the perfect tree!

Mr. Wise Guy....
Found it!! Let's take it home!
Decorated tree photo to follow... hopefully. I'm too lazy to stand up from my chair and take a picture at the moment :)

North for Thanksgiving

We headed north for Thanksgiving day to spend the holiday with the Alexanders at Stacy and Eric's house. They hosted Turkey Day and prepared a wonderful meal for the family.
Dinner was great - so much so that Brian decided to do a "dinner" rainbow which requires some of every food offered to be represented on his plate! (Until this year, the Rainbow was only for desserts...)
And then the "Double Rainbow" was officially born with this pile of dessert...
And shortly after finishing the double rainbow, he swore off any future attempts! But Brian's a sucker for dessert... we might see it again sometime soon...

On Saturday, we did Thanksgiving again with Melissa's family, including her great-aunt Dot!! Still thinking about Mom's frozen pumpkin roll....

We HEART BNL

Went to our 4th BNL concert last night.... still love 'em.
Set list...
Then we hung out after the show to get some signatures and say hi.
Jukebox the Ghost was the opener, and they were great... been listening to their album all day today.

Thanks "Ladies"! We'll be there the next time you swing by Portland!

Halloween 2010

We were so excited that we pulled off our last minute costumes - and people actually knew what we were!!
Using my giant tweezers on the Operation game pieces would make my costume buzz - ok, so I had a buzzer in my pocket.. but I fooled plenty of people! And "Waldo" was searching for the wizard, a cane, and the scroll all night - and he found two of the three!!
And the official trick-or-treater count this year: 102 ghouls and goblins.
Scott wins with a guess of 104!!! Nice work Scott!!

Halloween 2010: Success!
