Wicked snowy out they-ah

Ok, so even my own attempts at a Maine accent are pretty bad... But what I'm trying to say is we got some serious snow in the last 36 hours! We were down to bare grass with just a few spots of snow as of Thursday. But Friday brought us a blizzard -thats still going- and with it a good two feet of snow.

Every day's a snow day

After two good snowstorms, we had about a foot of snow of the ground! Heeeeeello Winter.
During our Christmas week off from work, we took full advantage of the fluffy white stuff by walking the snow-covered trails in our neighborhood with Jane.  (Walking in the deep snow will really tire Jane out, we thought.  We failed to consider that it would really tire us out too! Especially the pregnant lady.  No worries though, it's still fun!)

But when we're sticking closer to home, the snow provides a fun update to a backyard game we play with Jane.  And the floppy frisbee Brian found from his Cub Scout days (we're finding a LOT of stuff as we clean up/clean out for the nursery) was a big hit with Jane. Don't know why, but for some reason it's a lot more fun to run through the snow to retrieve the frisbee :).

The only drawback with Winter Frisbee - it's so easy to lose the frisbee in the snow!  Which turns into another game: Dig craters until you find the Frisbee ....

Treats for all!

After two tests, I found out that I don't have gestational diabetes -woo hoo! Now I can eat my Christmas candy without guilt. :)

And since Brian and I are enjoying our treats, I figured this weekend was a good time to finally try out the Belgiorno dog treat recipe so Jane could join us in indulging (she loved their treats sooooo much - why did it take me so long to make them?!).

I had a video, but Blogger won't post it :( But I think this photo will do the trick in telling you how excited Jane was to have these famous peanut butter treats again!!  Jane sends many licks of gratitude for sharing the recipe!

T-Day

We hosted Brian's family for Thanksgiving this year, although they brought a lot of the food over with them!
Filling up our plates!
Jane was checking to see if she would be invited to join us for this meal.... disappointingly, no.

Lucy showed off her puzzle skills for us while we waited for dessert time:

Time for the DOUBLE RAINBOW! (a helping of EVERY dessert - your rainbow - after a helping of every dish from dinner)... these three were the only ones crazy enough - I mean, brave enough - to embark on the double rainbow.  An extra impressive feat since there were 9 different desserts!

Family Photo Time!

And Lucy's new animal sound... to wrap up the day.

My Favorite Runners

I grabbed a shot of my two favorite runners a few weeks ago before their morning weekend run.  Don't they look cute in their outfits? Safety first!
Every time we put Jane's "cape" on for a walk we call her Super Dog! Every super hero wears a cape, right?

Trimming the Tree

The Christmas traditions kick off with a fresh tree (LOVE the smell of balsam in the house) which we decorate while watching It's a Wonderful Life. Can you believe Brian only discovered this movie a few years ago?! "Hee Haw"
Brian's always in charge of the lights and garland... he's got a knack for spacing it out just right without running out of garland before we reach the bottom of the tree ;).
"I wish I had a million bucks.... Hot Dog!"
I was hoping the pajama bottoms wouldn't be in the photo... but then again, what's wrong with being comfy? Besides, I'm wearing elastic waist pants whether it's pjs or my "day" pants anyways these days :).
